While Rounder issued the complete Victor recordings, and there have been some Columbia sets issued as well, this fairly priced single-disc, 25-cut collection from Proper is all most people need. These tunes were all taken from the 1920s and `30s, and are the original recorded versions of these standards. Virtually every major Carter cut is here -- "Wildwood Flower," "Stay on the Sunny Side," "John Hardy," "Wabash Cannonball," "Worried Man Blues," "My Clinch Mountain Home," and many others.
