She joined the magazine's staff in 1978 as an editorial assistant, and spent almost fifteen years as the executive editor before being promoted to Editor in Chief in 2000. She is a frequent guest on radio and television programs about food, restaurants, travel, and popular culture, and has been inducted by the James Beard Foundation into "Who's Who of Food & Beverage in America."

  • Worth the money

    A good big cookbook full of interesting recipes. Kind of the less sophisticated cousin to last year's Gourmet cookbook. The book could have used an editor though. Items such as chipotle peppers are alternately descrbied as being avaialable at your grocery stores, at a latin market or at a specialty food store. Little inconsistencies like that stand out.
