Originating as a spinoff of MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY, THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW premiered in 1960 and quickly charmed its way into the hearts of audiences with one of the most beloved television fathers of all time. Set in the fictitious environs of Mayberry, North Carolina, the series chronicled daily life in the peaceful Southern hamlet through the gently humorous eyes of town sheriff Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith). A widower raising his young son Opie (a pre-HAPPY DAYS Ron Howard) with the help of his live-in spinster aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), Andy capably navigated single parenthood with the same goodhearted wisdom that he brought to his law enforcement duties--that is, when he wasn`t being hampered by the fidgety, bug-eyed antics of his bungling deputy sheriff Barney Fife (Don Knotts). A wholesome throwback to a simpler time, this collection presents the series in its entirety for a total of eight seasons.

Andy Griffith Complete Series
This is a great set, packaged well in sections of the different seasons. Great price too, have looked several other places all where at least *** more. I love overstock, they have great products with great prices and their service is the fastest of any mail order I have used. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it took over a month before I got my order (which is so unlike Overstocks service) and when I did get it the box was a little damaged but that I am sure is the fault of the postal service and not overstocks. The DVDs were not damaged at all, arrived in great condition. It is so nice to be able to watch good wholesome television again, and my grandchildren are enjoying watching it too!

It doesn't get any better...
I am so glad I ordered this. It is worth every penny. This is my all time favorite show, and this set includes every season AND the return to mayberry movie. The set is great, I prefer having a box set like this as apposed to each individual season. The packaging is a bit flimsy but if kept on a shelf you will never have any problems. Perfect item for any fan of the show.

MY HUSBAND AND I LOVE THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. I ORDERED THIS FOR HIM AS A SURPRISE. HE LOVES IT!!! THERE IS NO BETTER ENTERTAINMENT. THIS SHOW SHOULD BE REQUIRED VIEWING FOR EVERYONE. WE MUCH PREFER WATCHING SHOWS LIKE THIS THAN WHAT IS ON T.V. PRESENT DAY.
