What's This?

Description:

As San Francisco's most glamorous millionaires mingle at the party of the year, someone is watching--waiting for a chance to take vengeance on Isa and Ethan Bailey, the city's most celebrated couple. Finally, the killer pinpoints the ideal moment, and it's the perfect murder. Not a trace of evidence is left behind in their glamorous home.

As Detective Lindsay Boxer investigates the high-profile murder, someone else is found brutally executed--a preacher with a message of hope for the homeless. His death nearly falls through the cracks, but when reporter Cindy Thomas hears about it, she knows the story could be huge. Probing deeper into the victim's history, she discovers he may not have been quite as saintly as everyone thought.

As the hunt for two criminals tests the limits of the Women's Murder Club, Lindsay sees sparks fly between Cindy and her partner, Detective Rich Conklin. The Women's Murder Club now faces its toughest challenge: will love destroy all that four friends have built? The exhilarating new chapter in the Women's Murder Club series, The 8th Confession serves up a double dose of speed-charged twists and shocking revelations as only James Patterson can. And remember, this is the only Murder Club episode of the year.

another of Patterson's great books, I enjoyed it very much.

    • Fantastic Book in Women's Murder Club Series

I anxiously awaited James Patterson's latest book in his series of the Womens' Murder Club. I was not disappointed in the suspense as Detective Lindsay Boxer along with her partner, Detective Rich Conkin try to solve murders. Detective Boxer brings in her fellow Murder Club members to help in solving the high profile murders happening in San Francisco. Boxer was ordered to stop investigating the murder of a homeless man who was a savior of teen girls and other homeless. I was reading and turning pages trying to see who was committing the murders. The homeless man's murder had to be worked on Boxer's off time. She had to focus on the high society murders that were happening in San Francisco. I could not put this book down as I was so engrossed in the book that all other things were left undone. I could not figure out who was the murder or murders. What a surprise ending to Patterson's book! This book was well worth the wait for its release. If anyone is a fan of the Womens¿ Murder Club, they will not be disappointed in this book. I again am waiting for the next book in this series. The Overstock.com web site states this is the only Patterson book in this series to be released this year. Is it January 2010 yet?!? I do not want to wish away this year but I have to wait until 2010 for Patterson's next book in this series!!! :-(

  • Mystery, mayhem and murder most foul abound in this eighth entry to Patterson's enduring mystery series. The four members of the Women's Murder Club are pulled into the investigation of three deaths: a homeless man called Bag Man Jesus, whose face has been mutilated, and a glamorous couple from San Francisco's upper elite, who are just as dead as Bag Man but whose bodies look untouched. With its shifting points of view and multiple characters, this audio book would be a daunting task for any narrator, but Carolyn McCormick is up for the challenge. The reader for several earlier Women's Murder Club novels, she renders the characters with ease. Although her vocal tone may verge on strident at times, her earnest delivery keeps the story moving briskly. A Little, Brown hardcover (Reviews, May 11). (Apr.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
