    • Doesn't seem like a diet

      I've tried all kinds of things to lose weight and always give up after a while for varioius reasons. Counting calories is especially frustrating and difficult. This book is totally different! It's like going to a restaurant and selecting from a menu and you don't have to calculate calories at all. No matter how you pick and choose for each meal (and dessert!) it always adds up to 1200 calories. My husband and I have been using this book for 2 months now. I've lost 35 lbs and he's lost 20 lbs! And he's someone who enjoys a beer or two with dinner. Also, we've gone out to restaurants and have been able to recognize proper portions, pick things that we really like, and still lose weight. Each recipe serves 4. We plan a week's worth of menu's and make the whole amount at each meal then we have "leftovers" the next week. It's great. Only con - there's lots of chopping so invest in something that helps get the chopping done quickly. I bought each of my daughters a copy and my mom just bought a copy after trying it out for a week while visiting us!

      The book had NO pictures and some of the recipes were laughable, like how to make toast!!! Was NOT what I expected. There are a few good recipes but overall it is not something I would have bought had I seen it at a bookstore.
