For the tarot collector or the Vertigo fan, this reissue is a welcome opportunity to obtain an artifact. The product, however, falls short. The stock is very thin and the cards themselves appear to have been punched out of a ceral box rather than die-cut. There are little points of paper at the medians of all four sides that should have been buffed off. Appreciating the images on the cards requires familiarity with the Vertigo series of graphic novels and its pantheon of characters. Note to Vertigo fans: the cards are illustrated with clever and beautiful photographic collages by Dave McKean. The cards do NOT feature illustrations from the comics. This deck is dark. Not just in mood, the printing is dark. The book, by tarot author Rachel Pollack, is entertaining, relevant and informative but difficult to read. It is set in the smallest possible type yet there is plenty of whtie space on each page; the text could have been much larger. The monochrome images of the cards in the book are...
