This is an excellent DVD. It is from Brainy Baby and it is worth whatever the price. We are not impared, however, our child was really stubborn and did not want to talk. She watched Talking Hands and it helps her to communicate with us as well as talk. She knew the sign language to eat, play, more, please, thank you, help, off, on and car before she was 2 years old. We understand her more when she talks because she is using the sign language to match it. Now that she is two, she is really polite and is always saying please and thank you. I'm still afraid of the "terrible two" but so far, she's a sweet two (She's been two for almost 2 weeks now). And what is really awesome, you don't have to be a stay at home mom for this to work. I work over 40 hours a week and Brainy Baby has helped me with her education. I've learned a lot too. Please, this is a great DVD. There's children who signs on the DVD as well as adults. Even daycare talks about her using sign language and it has helped them. The brainy baby collection is wonderful. My daughter can count from 1-10, recognizes all of the numbers 1-10, recognizes most of her letters, knows her animals and the sounds (lion, frog, dog, cat, elephant, etc.), and more already before the age 2.
This video is VERY short, and boring. It simply shows the alphabet signs really and not much more. It does not teach any words or relate the signs to items in the real world. It has very low entertainment value. It would really only be suitable for older children. My 5 month old won't find this video useful for some time now.
We have been watching this DVD in pieces on our cable system's On-Demand. My daughter is just over 15-months-old and she loves it. All of the signs they show are matched with the actions they represent, and my kid's favorite part is that there are lots of little kids featured! I am not positive, but I think that my daughter may actually have used the sign for "eat," which was very exciting! Great as an intro to signing or just for entertainment.
