While this book does not return the series to its original luster, it is on the come back. Initially, this was a total joy for tea shop, Southern, Charleston area and general cozy mystery fans. Many began noting that the mystery was not the strong suit, but loved, loved the characters and setting, the descriptions, recipes and tea tips. Then it began to be that the mysteries really weren't very well written, then stronger complaints, and then with the past three or four books, the characters started slipping. In the last book before this one, even the heroine lost her persona. With a lot dropping out of the series at this point, I decided to soldier on and check out this latest to see if there was an upturn. Happily, there is. The heroine, Theo, is more herself and the writing has tightened up some. This gives hope that the series will keep coming back in quality of writing, with less overuse of pet words and consistency of characters, even sharpening them back up. And, definitely, there's hope the mysteries will get tighter as well. Not there yet, but on the improve.
