My father recommended me reading this book after he had already read it a couple years back. So I checked it out at my library, I got about 8 pages in and it hooked me. I couldn't stop reading it all night. unfortunately someone wanted it when my check out was expired so I had to give it back. I would've had to wait a couple more weeks until I got it back, I didn't want to so I ordered it on here. I'm almost done the book now, and my gosh! Robert McGammon's writing is so detailed, I actually caught myself a quite a few times feeling like I was watching it in movie form instead of reading it. He adds every sense to the story, sight, smell, sound, taste, touch, everything so you literally feel like you're in the book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone! It's a big book, but you go through it fast, once you start reading it, don't expect to stop for a few hours. It's that good. If you have any desire to read an apocalyptic book, then you need to read this one. You will throw stones at any other book.

I have read this book twice now in my life, It truly is an amazing book. I absolutely love it, it is my favorite. I wish they would make a movie using this book.Mr. McCammon is a brilliant writer, he makes you feel as if you are part of the cast.If you get a chance to read it, do so, you wont regret it.
