This is not the normal Sedaris novel....is is incredibly twisted with dark overtones about the human character. As usual though, David is immensely insightful in the interactions between individuals and then highly creative in adapting them to a mythical world where animals chatted about their issues. David's time spent in New York is definitely evident in the way some of the animals speak...a bit Brooklynesque but always darkly charming. This is not a children's book but something to read for an adult commuting to a hard job or wanting to smile before falling asleep. Excellent.
