Between a Rock and a Hard Place is a story of the most extreme survival that highlights the determination and will of human beings to survive. In my opinion this story has many positive and negative aspects. The way this story is written includes one or two miniature “adventures” between each chapter of the main story. This gives the story an interesting twist, but I often find myself wondering if I am still reading the main story or another of his adventures. Even though they are, in my opinion, very interesting and add to the book, I feel that their placement throughout the story could be better.
Since each mini-adventure is only several pages long, the majority of the book focuses on his survival while his arm is trapped between a rock and a granite wall. The story seems fairly interesting, and holds my attention rather well in the beginning, but, seeing that it’s a 354 page book, after those first couple chapters it becomes boring very quickly.
