jetz21 from OH, Rating:1.0Between a Rock and a Hard Place is the story of Aron Ralston, a mountain climber who gets his arm stuck under a boulder and is trapped there for 5 days with no one knowing where he is. He is hiking on a simple course for him and a large 400 pound boulder falls on his arm and pins it against a wall. For 127 hours he is trapped with just two burritos, a few liters of water, and isn’t able to sleep due to the fact he isn’t able to sit. Aron eventually runs out of water and has to try and drink his bottled urine. He reminisces in memories of past climbs while chopping at the boulder with a knife with little effect. Overall, I’d give Between a Rock and a Hard Place a 3.5/10. It isn’t anything that I’d recommend if you are looking for something exciting. It isn’t even something I could sit through again. It can get very dull and dry. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good documentary of what happened, but you can pretty much just skip the 200 pages of useless material.

This gives the story an interesting twist, but I often find myself wondering if I am still reading the main story or another of his adventures. Even though they are, in my opinion, very interesting and add to the book, I feel that their placement throughout the story could be better. Since each mini-adventure is only several pages long, the majority of the book focuses on his survival while his arm is trapped between a rock and a granite wall. The story seems fairly interesting, and holds my attention rather well in the beginning, but, seeing that it’s a 354 page book, after those first couple chapters it becomes boring very quickly. Each day seemed the same to...
