Customer Reviews
I always knew that I would get a PS3, it was just a matter of time. The graphical capabilities were up where I wanted them, the free online play was a big factor, and the high level of backwards compatibility is what made me decide on the 60GB model. When it was first released at $600, there was no way I was going to pay that much. Then, Sony started (and is still doing) the SKU shuffle. 80GB gets you limited backwards compatibility and 40GB has NO PS2 BC. Looking forward, the need for BC is small, but for now, I am using it to save space in my entertainment center. One additional thought before I stop my review: This is a good priced Blu-ray player (though a little noisy when the fan kicks on) with a lot of additional bells and whistles (MP3, DivX, XVid, MPEG1/2, Photoviewer, and media card/USB reader). I only wish it could read NTFS or HFS+ formatted external hard drives. Then it would be near perfect.

I've been a naysayer since the PS3 was launched late last year and it wasn't until I unpacked my console that I really began to love the machine for what it really was. The PS3 is a very well designed machine that runs very quiet, at least compared to my Xbox 360, and is very easy to setup. After getting mine, I've been able to safely recommend it to my friends that ask about the value of owning a PS3.

I was a bit worried about buying 'refurbished' merchandise, but I've been playing this thing for weeks and it's absolutely rad. Just about the only disconcerting thing was that the HD had someone elses saved games on it when I first fired it up, wiping the disk was simple however, and I haven't looked back. The controller was in a sealed bag, so I feel pretty good that I'm not going to get any cooties. ha!
