Recorded live in Willisau, Switzerland, SEX MOB MEETS MEDESKI pairs post-modern jazz funsters Sex Mob with keys maestro and contemporary jazz-funk favorite John Medeski for a highly charged live set of group improvisation. As per usual, Steve Bernstein`s Sex Mob mix up everything from Dixieland to Albert Ayler-styled free blowing, and Medeski fits right in with this aesthetic. The repertoire includes classic jazz (Ellington and Basie), film music (John Barry`s James Bond themes), Prince covers ("Sign O` the Times" and "Darling Nikki"), and originals. The musicians push each other to frenetic heights, yet are always grounded in melody and groove, making this live set a pleasure for any high-minded, fun-loving contemporary jazz fan.
