Nice book for planning fairly simple experiments that kids will enjoy and can do with little or no help. Many of the experiments are aligned with learning objectives in various grade levels. I will use this book during the school year while teaching 5th grade science.

My 5 year old is especially enjoying reading this book to me. It is easy enough for her to read and is a great tool for teaching her about her generation will need to concentrate on recycling programs even moreso than ours is today. Great Buy!

  • Very Resourceful!

I am a homeschooler and find this book to be a very good science resource. My daughter is seven; however, other parents who have children that attend school feel the book should be labeled for a fifth grader. It has one chapter each: physical, life, earth and space, science and technology. It also discusses basic concepts (hypothesis, metric system, etc), health, history, nature and social perspectives. Each topic is one page of reading and one page of questions/discussion which is a valuable reinforcement of reading comprehension and thinking skills since at least one question asks a child to explain their own thought on a particular subject. Finally, there is a review test for each chapter and a final test at the end of the book. This is a great standard for test preparation. I would recommend this book to curious school children to use over the summer (grades 2-4) or a child struggling with science concepts (ages 7-10) or any homeschooler as a basic go-to science book to 'ground' ...

  • This book is right up my daughter's alley!

My 9 year old daughter is very passionate on the subject of global warming, especially when it pertains to polar bears. So she really was thirilled when she received this book as a Christmas gift! She has already written out instructions for the rest of the family on how to cut down on energy usage, (yes including my visiting Grandmas) which are tips that she read in this book. Anything that encourages a child to read and allows them to be passionate about it's subject is a good book in my opinion!
