  • An amazing campy adventure!

First and foremost, before I begin this review, it must be noted that I have not played any of Spirit of the Century, the role playing game this universe is based out of. I also have not read any of the Dinopocalypse trilogy that this book continues from. I just saw this amazing cover, read the back, and was intrigued to read this story. I had no idea what kind of an adventure I was about to begin. Kahn of Mars follows the exploits of Professor Kahn, an ultra intelligent Ape, and his partner Bulls-eye,a cowboy sharpshooter. In the beginning of the book a portal is opened that sends the heroes to Mars. This book is just terrible. I loved The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, so I picked this one up. Mistake. There's no plot, no characters, no point. Seriously, don"t bother.

  • Not quite what I expected

For all the hype surrounding this book as the first use of the word "robot", it has precious little to do with what we in the current day would identify as robots. For starters, this is actually a play, not a book, that takes place in 2 or 3 rooms in a building. All of the "action" is outside and off-stage. It IS probably the first cautionary tale of how technology is advancing much faster than our morality, or indeed our capacity to adapt to its effect on society. It's certainly a good read.

I enjoyed once again imersing myself in this continuing series about an alternate reality. The wrinting inall of these books is always good, and this book is no exception. As usaul we get taken on a fun ride that makes us belive that if things were just a little bit different, we to could do these amazing things. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series. I urge you to read this book and have a good time doijng it.
