  • SAM COOKE with THE SOUL STIRRERS

I think this is one of the top recordings of all time. If you are a music lover, you do not even have to like Spirituals, to enjoy the beauty, the harmony and the lyrical voices which touch something deep inside of the listener. They need NO instruments. The voices ARE the instruments. Sam Cooke stands by himself as one of the greatest singers and song writers of our time. His heart felt singing on these cuts does indeed stir the soul! Touch The Hem Of His Garmet, a song he wrote on the way to a show, can move one to tears! There are 25 songs and you will find it difficult to pick a favorite. WONDERFUL!!!!!

  • This is an enjoyable CD. It starts out in the early days with very little musical accompanyment, and works up to more recent recordings, with more orchestration.
