Tom Berrenger's excellent portrayed of beloved Teddy Rosevelt made this movie much enjoyable . I was suppose to be very annoy with all this talk about glory , honor and innocent way that men glorified the war and found excuse to invade another country but this film portrayed the historic turning point in history of the USA when gentle man decided to stand up and fight against oppressive tyrant and somehow I got the message. The film progress through similar pharse when raw recruits ( in this case lot of Cowboys and actuall some Indians volunteers ) went through roughtly equivalent of basic training then ship off to the war. All the charactors in this film are loveable and surprsingly human not cardboard like charactors that show on other war film. The weapons in this film were accurate including 30-40 Krag Jorgensen supplemented by Winchester model 1895 carbine , Colt model P and Springfield trap door . The spainaird use Mauser modelo 1893 long rifle and Mauser C 96 pistol . The nice touch of this film including Gatling gun, Colt Potato digger and Spainish Maxim machine gun . It might not be the most accurate assortment of arms used in the conflict but the film maker made good attempted and it is greatly appreciated .
