Rosco Gordon was one of the most distinctive R&B pianists of the `50s. His brashly syncopated rhythms threw heavy emphasis on the upbeat and served as an inspiration to Jamaican musicians, who would use the "Rosco rhythm" as a fundamental building block of ska, rocksteady, and reggae.
