Before I saw "Revolutionary Road," I assumed it was another gushy romance. But this movie is a far cry from "Titanic." It's Kate and Leo grown up and struggling with the sinking ship of their marriage this time. The film is beautifully acted by these two stars, and the settings are appropriately idyllic. This movie captured the struggle many married couples go through - the dilemma between pursuing your dreams and independence versus raising a family and finding security. It was painful to watch, but I couldn't take my eyes away.
The film Revolutionary Road is, if nothing else, extremely well made. The costumes are gorgeous and entirly reminiscent of the 1950's era they are modeled after. The setting fits perfectly in the film and, in a sense, plays a role in the film. When watching the film you feel as though you have stepped back 60 years into the heart of the 1950's. The acting is phenomenal. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet steal the show playing the likeable young couple struggling with the conformity that they are surrounded by on a daily basis. Their characters are constantly at odds with the direction they should go in and the "hopeless emptiness" that their current lives are taking them.
