I heard an interview of Regina Spektor on NPR and was intrigued by the classical music training and interesting vocals she used in her music. I specifically purchased this CD for "Apres Moi" since I liked the clip they gave on the radio. I thought it was unique and quirky. I was delighted to find that it was one of many tracks I loved. I haven't been able to stop listening to this music. Regina Spektor is not only a phenomenal and unpredictable musician but I also enjoy the poetry of her lyrics. "Samson" is a love song with an achingly lovely chorus with words that evoke a profound longing.
Ms. Spektor has an amazing voice. The lyrics are a little odd in some of the songs but that just makes it more unique.
The songs get stranger as you listen through the tracks, but overall it's a good CD. "Fidelity," "Better" and "Samson" are great tracks - CD worth it just for those! Her voice is quite lovely and exquisitely haunting at the same time. Good CD if you're open minded to something different.
