Regarding Henry (DVD)

This movie shows a different side of Harrison Ford (not the action hero of the Tom Clancy stories or Indiana Jones). Harrison Ford is capable of a wide-range of emotions in the characters he portrays. At first in this movie, he is an abrassive NY attorney. Then later, he is someone completely different and wonderful. I am a huge fan of Harrison Ford and have about 12 of his films in my collection. I am glad to add this one to the mix. Brand new and very affordable too. Widescreen to maintain that theatre quality. Inspiring story. One of Harrison Ford's lesser known hits.

How can you go wrong with a Harrison Ford movie? This movie is a wake up call I wish more people would get in today's world. The message is poignant. This is a thought-provoking, heartwarming movie with a fantastic cast! It also keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Harrison Ford plays a high powered attorney for a firm whose motto seems to be "Crush them all, by any means necessary". Henry Tucker is definitely cut from that cloth. After a party, he and his wife played by Annette Bening come home and find that Henry has no cigerettes. He walks to the local convenience store and the next thing Bening knows, the police are at her door. Henry has suffered a potentially fatal brain injury. At the hospital, Henry can't move and can't talk but he might live. It turns out that Henry survives the injury and begins therapy because he still can't talk and can barely move. He meets a physical therapist, Bradley, who treats Henry like will be back to new in no time. Bradley pushes Henry at a ferocious pace and soon Henry is walking. How Bradley gets Henry to talk is hilarious. Bening and their ten year old daughter comes to visit Henry. He doesn't know them. In fact Henry doesn't know much of anything. Bradley and Henry keep working until its time for Henry to go home. Since he doesn't know his wife and daughter, he is very reluctant to go with them but Bradley tells him its the right thing to do. So he goes home with his family. They show him around his condo to get him accustomed to his new surroundings. And Henry slowly begins to remember the most insignificant memories, but its a start. Slowly Henry is welcomed back to work, but he is a shell of his former self. After his daughter teaches him how to read, he begins to look at files of won cases. He finds that he was a terrible human being and it troubles him. He begins finding simple ways to right the wrongs he has purpertrated on deserving plaintiffs. He then makes two discoveries that shake his marriage to the core. But this is the new Henry and he goes about reparing the damage where ever he finds it. The damaged Henry is twice the man the old Henry was and as a man, I believe this is a great film. This was a tremendous performance by Ford in a role you've never seen him play and Annette Bening's beauty and grace would have made her a star in the golden years of film. Truly a must see for men and women alike.
