I know it has subtitles, but this movie is not just for the indie movie buffs. There is such great cinematography and color that watching it again after all these years on a nice big flat screen make the movie come to life. I don't know much about director's names or who did what, but this movie rocks!!! I had my boyfriend watch it reluctantly and he was immediately looking up other movies the director had done that we could watch. All-in-all I think this is right up there with Joy Luck Club and I LOVED it. Oh and not that it matters but I am an African-American woman from Oakland, CA. I only say that to stress that this movie connects with all types of people.
