Audio Mixer: Seth Presant. Liner Note Author: Maxx Myrick. Recording information: Humphrey`s, San Diego, CA (2002). Photographer: Dale Gold. Arrangers: Pete Escovedo; Wayne Wallace. Pete Escovedo reminds everyone why he continues to be such a dominant force in the world of Latin jazz percussion, coming on strong with his first live recording in almost two decades and mixing classic standards and original compositions throughout the session. Escovedo`s percussion work is fearless and the rest of his band (including sons Juan and Peter as well as daughter Sheila E.) is equally up to the task. Every imaginable facet of Latin jazz is explored in what seems like a short period of time, but the music is so enjoyable that the session breezes by and leaves the listener wanting more. Here`s hoping that another 15 years don`t pass by without another release like this. ~ Rob Theakston
