The game is great; Graphics is nice with the right graphics card but you do need a good computer to run it. It is fun game, has a unique game play, characters and classes. My only thing is too much loading to explore the open world, well not really an open world, the made it into section like instances. When moving from section to section you have to load up that place. Even if you have to go into a small room you have to load up. I guess there may be a reason behind it. But I¿m not used to it. The only thing I¿m disappointed about the Age of Conan: Collector's Edition, I was expecting a hard cover book that that came with the Collector's Edition, to me it was a cheaply made Collector's Edition.
Everyone I know who bought the Collector Edition is very happy with thier choice. I would have gladly paid the same price most everyone else did, but I checked Overstock.com and it was almost $20 cheaper than the standard retail price. Since I placed my order, some retailers have even raised their prices. A few days before launch, I couldn't even find a standard edition in local stores. My wife is not a gamer, but once she saw it in action she got a copy as soon as stock arrived in stores again. The pre-launch went very well and the official launch date was probably much smoother as a result. The developers continue to improve on the massive world and game mechanics. In the ratings for this review there is a category called "Suitability for all ages". I gave it a one because the game is mature, but this should be a yes or no question, not a star rating. It's a great game for mature and experienced minds who can enjoy the game with perspective.
Great game. As with all new MMO's, there's still much room for improvement. The developer has the newbie island decked out great, with animations and voiceovers on every quest. However, that has not carried through to the remainder of the game yet. I'm sure it will in the future. The fatalities are great, and can be disabled for younger players, although the game is intended for 18+.
If you played other MMOs (Massively Mulitplayer Onliness) then Age of Conan takes the genre in a new direction. Now instead of having to poing and click for attacks you have to hit a corrospanding directional attack. Graphics are amazing sadly the DX10 stuff is left out for a later date but that's not really a big deal. Sound is great too. The game does have it's flaws but funcom is promising updates twice a week to help get rid of any bugs, hey no other MMO had a smooth launch even that one that everyone and their brother plays. So if you're an avid MMO fan than this is something I'm sure you'll enjoy.
The game itself was worth every penny. I ordered from Overstock because they had the best price. The USPS shipping though was not worth it. I should have paid the extra to get the next grade of shipping. It took Over a week including weekends. If your planning to buy this game you should make sure you have a relatively new computer. This game won't run well on just any old computer. I would say if you have a multi-core processor and a video card from the latest two generations of ATi and nVidia's lineups you should be ok. 2-4GB of memory is good to have too. I've played a lot of MMORPGs, and this one is one of the best. Even on lower settings the graphics a superb. This game has had one of the least glitchy launches too (not to say there are no glitches and bugs). The quests and storyline are much more engaging then most other games. The classes are extremely fun to play, and there is most likely a class that suits your play-style. If you don't mind the monthly fee, and have a decent PC, then don't think twice, buy it.
Game arrived in good shape. Conan is fun to play, but would suggest not you pre teens
This is a fantastic example of the MMORPG genre of game. Please note the mature rating if you are looking to buy for a younger person. The rating is there for a reason. There is nudity. There are adult situations. There is foul language and of course lots of blood and gore. Be careful of letting the little ones watch over your shoulder while playing this game! Otherwise enjoy.
This game is a great departure from the normal MMO. If you're more into adventure games, I'd give this a try. The Collector's edition comes with the game's music soundtrack, which alone is worth the extra 20 bucks over the normal edition. This game is rated MA, so 17+ please. Definately not for the kiddies.
The game is great and far better then world of warcraft you should certainly buy it!
Remember the game is designed for mature audiences therefore while it is suitable for it's intended audience; it is not your parents Mario Bros. The graphics are beautiful and the game play superb. This MMO will probably set the new standard for all MMO's.
