The Dreamworks animated film SHARK TALE tells the rags-to-riches story of a low-level aquatic hustler who takes advantage of the sudden demise of an underwater mob boss to start his own rise to glory. An all-star cast, including Will Smith and Robert De Niro, lent their distinctive voices for the assorted characters. Similarly, SHARK TALE`s soundtrack is populated by luminaries of the music world, who offer both original songs and interesting covers.
The album opens on a lively note with Sean Paul and Ziggy Marley offering some pop-tinged reggae on the festive "Three Little Birds," by Marley`s famous father. This is followed by a rambunctious reinterpretation of "Car Wash" that combines the talents of Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott. The musical lines stretch from the youthful R&B of JoJo on "Secret Love" to hip-hop scandalmongers D12 on "Lies & Rumors." A cool coincidence occurs as Cheryl Lynn appears on the fetching "Sweet Kind of Life," while Mary J. Blige and Will Smith get together on a faithful cover of Lynn`s classic "Got to Be Real." The soundtrack for SHARK TALE captures the wide-eyed, fun spirit of the movie.
