Having volunteered in a no-kill shelter for many years, this book brought forth the realization that I was going through life with blinders on. A person can not read this book and continue to look the other way as a small group of people work unselfishly for the lives of animals. Our society sees other living species as "disposable". Even our courts see animals as property and not as the loving and unreplaceable treasures that they truly are. I could not rate this book on it's entertainment value because there wasn't anything entertaining about it. It is truly a must read for all ages who are mature enough to grasp it's message.
