I've been cooking for over 20 years for my family and make/ eat most everything from scratch. I love collecting comprehensive cook books - especially those that have a strong nutritional component. This book only gives the basic information and some simple recipes - it does not go into great culinary depth. The reviews looked positive, so I thought I'd give it a try. If you are a beginner - this might be OK - but otherwise, would not buy it again. I will be looking to give it away.

Before purchasing this book I checked with my ND and his office told me that they recommended this book and agreed with it's nutritional teaching so there is plenty of science to back it up. If you are serious about getting or staying healthy through your diet and making major changes to how you eat, this book will help you accomplish that.
Mankind didn't suffer from obesity, heart disease, and cancer until we started eating "modern" foods. This book teaches the old ways that our grandmothers knew. I feel connected with their lives now. Plus the recipes are really tasty!
