Nourishing Traditions is a great book
from Atlanta, GA,  Sep 9, 2012

This book gives you the nuts and bolts about various food and how they should be incorporated. The one amazing thing I learned was that some maple syrup has formaldehyde in it, who knew! This is a book that every home should have.

Good for beginners.
 from Chicago,  Sep 19, 2011

I've been cooking for over 20 years for my family and make/ eat most everything from scratch. I love collecting comprehensive cook books - especially those that have a strong nutritional component. This book only gives the basic information and some simple recipes - it does not go into great culinary depth. The reviews looked positive, so I thought I'd give it a try. If you are a beginner - this might be OK - but otherwise, would not buy it again. I will be looking to give it away.

I've already recommend this book to several people and will continue to do so. It is chock full of good recipes and wonderful information on healthy nutrition. Before purchasing this book I checked with my ND and his office told me that they recommended this book and agreed with it's nutritional teaching so there is plenty of science to back it up. If you are serious about getting or staying healthy through your diet and making major changes to how you eat, this book will help you accomplish that.

Incredible advice and recipes!
from McKinney, TX,  May 27, 2010

Mankind didn't suffer from obesity, heart disease, and cancer until we started eating "modern" foods. This book teaches the old ways that our grandmothers knew. I feel connected with their lives now. Plus the recipes are really tasty!

Good sense
from Palm Springs,  Jan 27, 2010

For whatever reasons we (as a society) have made food so complicated - we have to get a book like this to remember how to eat. I highly recommend this book - it will all start coming back to you ............ just like grandma used to do ..... Good luck and happy eating.

Nourishing Traditions
 from Virginia,  Jun 17, 2008

A highly informative book full of excellent information about natural food. The layout is especially interesting as there are receipts on part of a page and related nutritional or historical information on the other part of a page. Extremely readable. Also inspiring. Makes one want to learn and to cook wisely.

More than just a cookbook.
from Maine, USA,  Jun 4, 2008

This is an fascinating cookbook that can change the way you feel and live. Ingredients missing from this book include sugar, vegetable oils, yeast flours, and processed foods. Healthy fats and meat proteins (with their enzymes) are the backbone of the book. Vegetarians should read up about the possible harm they are doing to themselves and especially to their small children by eating the way they do. I can personally attest that I saw improvements in the first week of using this book, even without going totally organic as she suggests. One word of warning is that since you will no longer be getting your energy from carbohydrates and sugars you will definitely need to keep up on the healthy fats in your diet to keep the blood sugars level. If you can find a nutritionist or doctor that agrees with this book's philosophy and can help you all the better. The sidebars on each page give scientifically backed information and medical and anthropological studies that back the premise of this book. They are a good read in their own right. Included are numerous studies that have been suppressed by the big food industry because they contradicted what was best for their profits. You will look at a walk down the grocery aisle in a different light after reading this book. If you are looking to improve your health, lose weight, level out your mood and energy swings, this book is for you.

Excellent!!!
from South FL,  May 16, 2008

If there is one book that is a must have in a kitchen, this is it. I loved the section in the beginning about the different nutrients and their sources, and what a body really needs to function. Along with great recipes for every occasion there is a multitude of information about ingredients in each recipe. I not only learned how to prepare food in a healthy way, I learned a lot about the sources of nutrition in our foods. A must have for every kitchen!!!

Eat well, feel GREAT!
 from PA,  Apr 4, 2008

Over the years, I have come to realize that the food offered to Americans is hurting us. All the commercially processed foods and artificial sweeteners, high temp processed oils is what is causing all the health and weight related problems in this country. This book just confirms all I have been learning due to my own (past) physical ailments. Because of a change of diet - to wholesome, organic and raw milk, eggs, vegetable and meat products, I am happy to say that I have been restored to complete health! I recommend reading Nourishing Traditions and using the wonderful recipes included.

Nourishing Traditions
 from MI,  Nov 26, 2007

An eye opener, this book is changing our lives! The information is revolutionary yet timeless, based on the work of Dr. Weston A. Price. This is a must read in this world of lowfat, tasteless, denatured foods stripped of all nutritional value. If you are truely interested in regaining your health or maintaining it, I would highly recommend reading this book. It is chock full of information, laid out in easy to read sections.

Kudos To Sally Fallon
from Blue Ridge Mountains,  Jun 4, 2007

I will give this as a gift on every possible occasion. This is the 'end-all' book on healthy eating. Lose the many pounds on the bookshelf and put this one book in their place. Common sense eating with the proper preparation techniques explained, accompanied by ancient wisdom and the facts to back it up. I even give it 5 stars for entertainment value as it is an enjoyable read that will leave you laughing (and crying) at the politics that govern our food choices.
