I had borrowed this book from the library, and renewed in a few times, so I knew what i was getting--a good slow cooker cookbook, with some recipes you don't find other places. I checked out various sites to buy this book, and, considering shipping costs, Overstock was the best value.
I didn't have high expectations for a slow cooker cookbook. However, I was very excited to read so many interesting, delicious recipes. The book is well organized, has a lot of interesting notes and stories to correspond with the delicious recipes. The book was an interesting read, and taught me about the fundamentals of slow cooking. And, the recipes are outstanding. I highly recommend this book.
I wasn't sure what to expect - this was an impulse purchase! We have since cooked out of this book every single week since it arrived with excellent results. I feel like my crockpot is now a permanent fixture on my counter. Recipes range from breakfast cereals to soups to main dishes with very original meals and many easy to prep items.
This cookbook fits the current gourmet tastes in food and has preparations that are sophisticated but doable. And equally important to cook book collectors, it's a good read of food history and culture. It is truly not your mother's version of crock pot meals.
