The Neil Gaiman novel won fantasy awards and this is his translation, so it is a lot of fun. It may be too scary for children under 8 but it is family fare. That doesn't mean it's not great fun for scifi / fantasy lovers. It sure beats the latest crop of worm, alien, radiation scarred flesh eating messes that claim to be in these genres. My only compliant is that they didn't edit out the start of each new TV episode and provide the story in an uninterrupted format. By the way, Gaiman just won the 2009 Newbery Medal for "The Graveyard Book", so the man knows how to write at every level!
