Haven't read the book yet. But trying to build my collection of James Patterson's Alex Cross series.Good price for the book from Overstock.com. I thought the book was a Hardback but when delivered it was paperback. I must have overlooked this description of the book...a bit disappointed but I have the book to add to my collection.

Beatrix Potter's biography (done as historical fiction) required this fourth book to further develop her life story, and the previous three books had left this reader longing for another. The realism of the characters and their small village, paired with the charm of the 'smart' animals, draws one deeper and deeper into the intricacies and mysteries of English village life in the early 20th century. Where the previous books had introduced us to the author's fascination with the myths and superstitions surrounding fairies and other 'folk,' this book goes way beyond those hints of the supernatural. Susan Albert's mystery plot line in this book depends entirely on the actions of the 'folk,' much the same way earlier plots had depended on the actions of the smart animals. Since we already had accepted her literary device that the animals could talk among themselves, I'm not sure why I felt that this new emphasis had somehow crossed the line of credibility for historical fiction, but I did. I kept waiting for another possible explanation to be introduced to cause one to doubt the supernatural aspect, but none came. Nevertheless, I found the development of the human characters' relationships to be slow but satisfying. One character in particular demonstrates great personal growth. Once again, though, I'm left longing for yet another book in the series to bring the dangling threads of unfulfilled relationships together, as Beatrix Potter's biography tells me they must.

This is the first book in the James Cross series by James Patterson. I couldn't put it down! I enjoyed so much that I have purchased the entire series (total of 12) to date! I was never a mystery reader, but this first book has me hooked!

This is an Alex Cross Mystery. As with the other James Patterson mysteries I've read, I didn't want to put it down. The plot is riveting and non-stop. It deals with a serial murderer and nemesis of Cross's nicknamed the "Mastermind". I wish, however, I had read the other Mastermind novels before reading this one because now I know who it is.

Another Alex Cross story that just kept you wondering what's gonna happen next. James Patterson has a great story-telling talent that just keeps going. This story has so many good and bad guys and it keeps you wondering who is the good and who is the bad until the very end! Just couldn't put it down once I started reading!

I had read this book when it was released several years ago. Mr. Patterson is one of my favorite authors. After reading has most recent books, I deceided to go back and get the Alex Cross series books. It is a thriller that I could not wait to read. I went to bed with it and it was the first thing I reached for in the morning. It is a book that you won't want to put down. I'm now reading the next in the series which is Kiss The Girls.
