Laurie Berkner is fantastic in any form. My grandaughter was humming her songs before she could talk. Her songs are insightful, empowering and just plain fun. The music and rhytem are easy to follow. This song book gave me more than I expected. It had the guitar fingering in it too (sorry I'm not a musician so I don't know if that's right or wrong). You won't be sorry you purchased this song book. You're children and grand children will LOVE IT. My grand daughter is now 4 and her 18 month little brother is also humming her wonderful songs.

This book does not offer a description. I thought it was a story about Howlin Wolf. However it is a guitar instructional book for Howlin Wolf songs.

The service was prompt. I receive it just when they told me it would arrive. If you are teaching your self like I was then I wouldn't advise it. The person on the cd didn't give you enough time to turn the pages. It is a good book beside this flaw.

This book was (I believe) originally intended as a textbook for college professors looking for something more interesting than the average text. It requires supplemental information for that purpose, but is a fabulous source of information about how music affects brain chemistry and just why it is that the jingle from T.V. is stuck in our head for days (or years in my case, but that's another story). It requires no special knowledge of musical terms, although a basic understanding of music theory would help, and all of the brain terms are explained clearly and accurately. It's entertaining and accurate - a combination that doesn't come along every time you pick up a book on music and the brain! Great for educators, students, parents, musicians, and therapists. If you like this one, you might also try " The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog" , by Bruce Perry and Maia Szalavitz. There are some inspiring tales of music used as a recovery tool in that book, too. Happy reading!

This was a Christmas present to a friend who loves music and bands. He is always looking for new music and researching the artists. He loved this! Not only did he find some great artists that he really enjoys, but the book also gives you background information which was an added bonus. A great gift for those who consider themselves a fan of the musical arts.
