Great movie value! I bought this movie because I had watched the DVD collection of the first (& only) season of FIREFLY. I cannot praise the series or movie enough! Great characterizations, great writing, plots, stories, character development--Joss Whedon is a master at creating completely believable worlds of alternate reality. You come to really CARE about his characters, and when a series (and in this case, a movie) ends, you feel a profound sadness that it's not going on indefinitely. The movie is terrific, but if you haven't seen the FIREFLY series, you may be confused at first, because the movie begins where the series leaves off. Do yourself a favor, and try to find the FIREFLY series--you won't be sorry! In this series, Joss Whedon takes us to the distant future, and his space odyssey is flavored with an old west, gunfight at the OK Corral-type atmosphere. If you're not a futuristic outer space buff, but you like shoot-em up westerns, there's a good chance you, too, will enjoy SERENITY. However, if you're concerned about young children and movie violence, this may be a bit too intense; save it for the teenagers and adults!

Buffy is awesome! An excellent show from the best of the best, Joss Whedon. While the namesake character may not shine in the first season, the surrounding characters exceed expectations with whitty commentary and unique personalities. Overall a wonderful series I hope to one day finish!

Any Joss Whedon fan, or fan of comedy and musicals, will deeply enjoy this. Although the film itself is only 40 minutes long, there's more than enough material on the DVD to get your money's worth (especially Commentary! The Musical). Highly recommended.

This is the most fantastic show Joss Whedon ever produced! Once you watch all four of these, you will fall in love with each and every character and become a die hard Browncoat (a fan!) for sure! Brilliantly written, alternately hysterically funny and heartbreakingly tragic you MUST not miss this. Well worth the money and time invested in getting to know this show. Fox was insane to drop it!!

This is a B-flick sort of movie that is space-oriented. Ice is a rare and much sought after substance, and the group of people this focuses on is a bunch of space pirates (hence the title: Ice Pirates.) It has a bit of adult humor that will most likely fly over kids' heads and an intimate scene that really doesn't show anything. This is integral to the plot, which is probably the only reason it is in there. There's a bit of violence to it, but you'd expect that from pirates, right? I laughed quite a few times while watching this movie, because it is ridiculous in some cases. But it also tries to be very serious. I imagine this movie may have inspired Joss Whedon's Firefly and Serenity.

If you are a fan of Joss Whedon's work, you will love this series. Great blend of comedy, action, drama, and plain fun. Best of sci-fi and westerns combined together. Shown in their correct order, the episodes get better and better. Great cast with great chemistry, who all went on to do solid character work or take the leads in other series. Love the writing stye of Whedon's team that give the right amount of comic timing, character development, and pathos. Like many I wished the series was not completely mis-handled by FOX and would have liked it to go on for five or seven seasons or even possibly spin-off series. Definitely see "Out of Gas" and "Our Mrs. Reynolds". If you saw the movie "Serenity" and liked it, these shows will really hook you into the world of Firefly. A must see for any sci-fi fan or people who just like great TV.

I would like to begin by saying that I am a huge fan of Joss Whedon, and his trio of series. That being said, this season is seriously lacking. The story arch was puttering out to a less than sublime finish, and in some ways, it felt as though the actors were just simply tired of their roles. Which, after 6 seasons of brillance, can you blame them? But for the die hard fan, of course you'll have to buy this, it's worth it for closure... or at least a lead-in to season 8 via Dark Horse's release. There are some moments of comic genius and a few heartbreakers ,as can be expected. For a near perfect final season, try Angel season 5. Not a bad ep in the bunch.

I'm a firm believer that many TV stations give up on shows too soon. In no instance is this more obvious than with Firefly. Highly entertaining, very funny, and truly unique (a rare commodity in today's TV line-up). Rare, also is the size of the dedicated fan base the 13-episode series inspired that continues to this day. I found this gem after watching the movie, Serenity (which was based on the TV series), and kept asking myself "why was this show cancelled?", only to find out that the TV fat cats set it up to fail by micro-managing it from the beginning (forcing Joss Whedon to air the episodes out of order and destroying continuity). That's probably why the show has many more followers than it did when it was on the air: you can now see the episodes in their intended sequence and watch the story unfold. Occasionally, you see a movie or show that you can just tell the actors/actresses are just having a blast: it's more than a job...this is one of those shows. Watch and enjoy!
