One of my favorite all time movies. I haven't seen it since it first came out in 1958 - Still a Classic! Wouldn't change a thing. Glenn Ford & Jack Lemmon are at their best.

Grand-scale TV mini-series true to the novel almost to the page. Great scenery and settings appear quite authentic (mostly shot in the Balkans). Casting could have been a little more imaginative. Main character Pug Henry, a Navy officer in his fifties nearing the end of his career, is underplayed by an indifferent and passive Robert Mitchum who looks too old and pudgy for the part - mainly because he was in his mid-sixties when the film was made. Glenn Ford or a similar contemporary would have been more believable. Bad boy Jan Michael-Vincent is miscast as wayfaring youngest son Brian and was not very convincing as an erstwhile graduate student of art and history. In spite of that, the well-photographed film gives an interesting and believable perspective of world dynamics in the three years preceding the attack on Pearl Harbor. Topol does a superb job as always as the Jewish cousin in war-torn Poland, while Polly Bergen is perfect as the glamour-loving Navy wife and Ralph Bellamy gives an inspiring performance as FDR. Recommended as a good story of history for those generations that came of age after WWII (and didn¿t pay attention in history class).

I have owned this on DVD for years and decided to purchase it on Blu Ray. The sound is amazing and the picture clarity is stellar. The gentleman playing Jesus, Glenn Carter, is phenomenal. The production uses modern costuming and imagery to make the story more relevant to a modern audience. A definite must see for any JCS or Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber fan.

Just love this actor and all that he does. The movie is well done, poignant, and the music reminds me of my grandparents. Everyone can enjoy it.

This is my favorite Ron Howard film. Lots of high energy action and confusion which used to be normal for all daily newspapers. Every actor got a good line or two and Glenn Close took a bullet for the truth! How much more fun can you ask for in a movie? See it with a room full of friends and plenty of popcorn.
