Thank you for order Hot in Cleveland season 1. I got it for my Mom, and we end up watching it together. I was amazed at how fast I got it..in perfect condition. I love not having to leave my home when I think of a last minute gift; I think the only other place I could of gotten it was Best Buy and I HATE them..really they are liars, lairs..pants on fire! If they are out it never comes in when they say, if you bring something back..they charge you; don't get me started. I thank my lucky stars for Overstock.com. Thank You, CC Riley

This is the only adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's classic to capture the sweeping intensity, romance, and mystery so beloved by generations of readers. Other adaptations are virtually unwatchable by comparison. The casting of this production is essential to its success. Orson Welles is at his ogre-ish, charismatic best. And though Joan Fontaine is hardly "plain", she has a gravity and quiet willfulness that are genuinely touching. The supporting cast is also well played. Peggy Ann Garner as young Jane does an impressive job of conveying hardship and yearning. An uncredited Elizabeth Taylor portrays her doomed friend Helen and is remarkably self-possessed and wise. Margaret O'Brien is the adorable Adele (most other actresses in this role come off as incredibly insipid and overage). As the "villains" of Jane's youth, Agnes Moorehead (Aunt Reed) and Henry Daniell (Brocklehurst) are memorably imperious and overbearing. This DVD includes four postcards of photo stills. There are also two sets of commentaries and a featurette about Welles' contribution as an uncredited producer and director Robert Stevenson. The limits of screen time necessitates the exclusion of certain portions of the novel, but it's a potent hour and a half and entirely faithful to the spirit of Charlotte Bronte's unforgettable story.

This movie is absolutely on target with today's mega-purchase of NBC by Comcast and the political climate. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see behind the scenes of television programming and current events.

4 movies for a low price. What a great deal. I got these for the Dexter Riley movies (trilogy of Medfield College movies). Even my 16 year old son liked them. I remember these from when I was a kid. Fun to watch again.

I have been searching for this older version on a DVD for a long time, and hope a review at this time will help to ensure release of this yet to be released item. I have read Charlotte Bronte's lengthy book three times during my life. Although the story is of necessity quite condensed, the Orson Welles, Joan Fontaine film is more true to the book than any other version I have seen. The poinancy of Jane, the intensity of Rochester, the inclusion of young Liz Taylor as the childhood friend, and the very well acted supporting parts all contribute to an excellent film. As in many older films, great attention is given to lighting which provides the proper "feel" for the scenes. This story has been done several times, but no one has yet been able to top this version. If you like the classics, don't miss it!
