It's not quite the same thing as a gift set. Basically seasons 1 through 8 are being repackaged into a more streamlined plastic cases and the excess old inch thick cardboard packages are being bundled together in plastic wrap and being sold collectively with an "Own every season of Cheers" label slapped on the outside of the plastic. Its the same result as purchasing all the season DVDs individually as they were released. There's no unifying slipcase. Also, at least in my case, what I received wasn't completely as advertised. The third season was in the new streamlined plastic casing unlike seasons 1, 2 and 4 through 8. I can only assume that season 3 is the most popular of the first eight seasons and that what's in the box depends on what's available. All that being said, the viewing experience isn't diminished. It's all 271 episodes of Cheers for less than the price of buying them peacemeal; what more can you ask for?

This was a Christmas gift for our 16 year old daughter. She loves it & watches them quite often! Great gift! How could you go wrong with Friends?
