Right off the bat, Michael Buble has you in his corner just because you know people have been calling the poor guy "Bubble" all his life (keep that accent on the second syllable, folks). Nomenclature aside, Buble's debut album positions him as something of a Harry Connick, Jr. for the 21st century. His husky croon gives him a bearing beyond his tender years, and in fact his Sinatra-phrased, pop-jazz style bears strong echoes of Connick's singing. Accordingly, the production leans heavily on the updated swing of chestnuts like "Fever" and "Come Fly With Me," but that's only part of the story. As a modern song stylist, Buble digs into the standards of a more contemporary songbook as well. George Michael's jazzy ballad "Kissing a Ballad" has been a standard-in-waiting for some time, and a version of the Bee Gees' soulful ballad "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" features a guest turn by Barry Gibb himself. And there are worse things that could happen to Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life" than to be given the big-band treatment. It's refreshing to hear the debut of a young singer who's simply applying a strong voice and style to quality songs instead of cynically treading the teen-pop treadmill.

I Absolutely Love it, this is cd is in my car, my office and I have another one just for home use.... I also bought this cd for my friends to each have a copy. I love this man's voice and the songs he chose we so delightful to listen to. I sure hope that he puts out more of the same music. sc

What a great CD! Love the song selection, the arrangements, and the voice. Hope to hear more from this artist soon. I love the updated versions of the American standards, both the old and the newer. I wasn't around in Sinatra's heydey, but those are the songs my mother used to sing so I know and love them, and the additions of "You'll Never Find" and "Crazy Little Thing (Called Love)" really make it. One of the best.

Oh Michael......how I do love thee!
Michael Buble is one of those singers that just allows you to float in time and enjoy every note. He is an adept singer who knows his audience and does a bang up job on every song. I absolutely am entranced when he sings. Have most all of his albums.

Great Big Band saloon-style music in a Sinatra style.If you're a fan of big band music, you will want to listen to this.My kids gave me his second CD. I liked it so much that I bought his first CD.I think he's really talented. Too bad there is not a lot of music like this any more.

A friend loaned me a Michael Buble cd and I got hooked. His voice is rare and you can even understand every word he sings. I have started to collect his cd's. His style is very smooth and his phrasing is perfect. I wish there were more of his cd's available.
