math doesn't suck
Well, I bought this for my 12 year old who is having trouble in math. I can't get her to read it. However, my 15 year old read it, and highly recommends it. If we could only get my stubborn daughter to read! I am going to try reading it myself, then showing her excerpts from the book. It is a good book.

new math attitude
As a person who struggled with math, this book is a genuine goldmine. Successful math education depends, to a great extent, on how it is presented, and this book presents math in a fun and exciting way. The book is geared toward middle school girls. Its examples use items as lip gloss and bracelets that might seem weird to boys. Its female bend may be the major weakness because its over-all fun approach to math can be of help to boys, too (if they can get beyond comparing lip gloss and purses!). It is a very useful book because it defuses the fear and anxiety of math and makes math skills something that can actually be grasped and accomplished. If you need a math make-over, this is the book!

I'm planning on using this book with the students I tutor. I believe they'll enjoy reading the various topics as they need more help learning them because the author writes in a way that communicates with today's students.

New Twists on Old Concepts
I would recommend this book to any elementary or middle school student who is struggling to learn basic mathematical concepts. Also, math teachers who are looking for new ways to introduce old concepts should find something valuable in this book. Although I must admit that some of the language is a bit corny, the messages are pretty straight forward and the examples are easy to understand. More importantly, children should be able to relate to the examples, which is an added value to understanding these math concepts. Great job, Danika!!

Geat for middle schoolers
My 7th grader has really struggled with math this year, we moved from a state that doesn't put enough effort into educating children to a state that does. My daughter has found it hard to keep up with the other kids who already know stuff that she wasn't taught in the past few years. This book has really helped her. She enjoys reading it and likes the way it uses "real life" situations to explain complex ideas. I would deffinately buy this again and would not hesitate to recomend it to any body who has a girl struggling with math at the middle school level.
