The movie is OK...purchased mainly for the victorian decor ideas....the extravagance and lushness, the over the top lives of royalty is mind boggeling....what all the costumes and sets must have cost I cannot imagine!....I do not reccommend this movie to children under high school age
This movie is like watching a moving painting. It has very little dialog but lovely costuming. SO much of the film is visual that is you like fast paced movies you will not be able to appreciate the distinct elegance that is created by the camera shots.
The first time I watched Marie Antoinette I felt like it lacked much plot and was not what I expected. After watching the behind the scenes commentary with Sopia Copolla, however, I had a new perspective as to the type of movie that was meant to be. I could then watch the movie again with a different appreciation for it. The film's beauty certainly adds to its appeal and along with its unique style, Marie Antoinette is the whole package.
