Madhur Jaffrey Indian Cooking

This book is phenomenal!!! I've been looking for authentic Indian recipes for quite some time... and when asking Indians or Pakistanis for a recipe- they often just give the list of ingredients... but then what?!? The tandoori chicken with the butter sauce was so amazingly delicious I couldn't stop eating the sauce... the sauce is great with boiled eggs too! I tried many of the vegetable side dishes and they were fantastic too! I have yet to make anything from the book I didn't like... if you have a well established spice cabinet you will find these recipes to be fairly simple... but if you have to buy all these spices you might find it a bit expensive at first... but in the end, you will have some spectacular tasting food! If you live in a big city - buy these spices from a hole-in-the-wall Indo-Pak market... they will be much much cheaper than if you go to a chain grocery store where they most likely won't have all the ingredients. I don't bother with fresh ginger since I can buy a huge bottle of ginger paste for much less and it's quicker/easier to use... the same goes for garlic- just used the jarred minced garlic to save time! I hope you all enjoy this cookbook as much as I have...
