M.I.A. is an enormous artistic talent. She's so talented, in fact, that musical icon/legend Björk has sung her praises in interviews. Kala is my favorite album of 2007, and I listened to at least a hundred CDs released last year (second was Feist's The Reminder). I also have unfailing good taste in all things (third was The National's Boxer). Unlike any other artist I can think of, excluding Björk, M.I.A. makes music that is exciting, original, experimental, while still remaining accessible - and she's all of those to the extreme. Her songs - and this album in particular - are always-addictive meldings of genres, styles, and even cultures. This album is brilliant. Overstock has it for cheap! Drink one fewer fancy coffees next week and buy this CD now!
One of the best albums of the year. If you're not open to hearing anything other than Fergie-type manufactured music than this is not for you...but if so, you will be very happy...
