PAVAROTTI - ITALIAN WEDDING FAVORITES is essentially a greatest hits collection showcasing the various facets of Pavarotti's artistry. The selections include operatic arias, sacred songs, and traditional Italian songs, all amply demonstrating Pavarotti's inimitable skills. The performances are all excellent, having been recorded during Pavarotti's vocal prime, and the disc culminates in a majestic performance of his signature showpiece, "Nessun dorma."
Included among the "encores" are two Puccini arias: "O mio babbino caro" from 'Gianni Schicchi' and "Musetta's Waltz" from 'La BohŠme,' both featuring the soprano Mirella Freni. Also included is a beautiful version of "Canta pe me" done by Giuseppe Di Stefano, a predecessor of Pavarotti's in the line of great Italian tenors.
