The LUCHADORES ENMASCARADOS series resurrects the cinematic genre of lucha libre, a form of Mexican wrestling marked by the use of masks, tag teams, and high-flying acrobatics. Starting out in the 1950s as typical gangster crime dramas, 1960s and'70s lucha libre employed increasingly outlandish storylines involving supernatural foes such as vampires, Martians, mummies, and zombies. This collection includes two films from the golden age of 1970s lucha libre, LOS CAMPEONES JUSTICIEROS (1971) and VUELVEN LOS CAMPEONES JUSTICIEROS (1972), which finds masked superheroes Blue Demon and Mil Mascaras protecting contestants in a Miss Mexico beauty pageant and foiling a nefarious plot to take over the world.
