Grab an iced latte and get comfortable! Once you open LEARNING, you will not want to move until you have finished reading every word. I caught myself not moving even after the last page, reminiscing about the journey I had been on. I had sat still, yet travelled, huddled with a team and danced on Broadway. I was silent as I rehearsed a song, participated in Biblical discussions and video chatted on Skype. I listened only to my own heart beat in my quiet place and heard hundreds of people applaud and cheer. But in the most unlikely of situations, I found myself alone in a room and completely surrounded by friends! Prepare to be a part of a family you love (but can never meet), because Karen Kingsbury has allowed God to use her again to teach us how to love him more! Like watching the opening scenes of my favorite movie or taking the first bite of my chocolate dessert, I got all giddy holding LEARNING in my hands. I knew the story it carried on its pages would make me smile, need a tissue and cause me to think. My smiles show up at the dinner table with the Baxter family and amongst significantly placed wisdom from women who have been through it before. Honestly, my eyes can fill up from those conversations too. But the moments when my tears fall most is when my heart doesn’t understand why something has happened, even when it’s a huge blessing. Wiping the tears makes me pause and reflect on the infinite wisdom of God… all things work best when they go His way. The lessons of LEARNING continued after I set it down. The overall way Bailey lives her life challenges me to make more of an impact on those God has placed in my path. Am I listening and obeying His still small voice and am I aware of the results when I don’t? The earnest desire for Cody to help others inspires me to get out of my own way and let God lead. Do I show concern for others and take action or do I pray and move on? Jenny Flanigan can easily be counted as an example of a Proverbs 31 woman in how she takes care of her family and home which makes me adopt that Godly woman attitude. Have I made it evident that our home is a safe harbor to be used for God’s purposes? Through answering these questions and many more, I have become a better person. I am confident that reading this book has improved my relationships with my friends, my family and my Savior Jesus Christ. I know you will enjoy all that God has to show you through this chapter in Bailey’s life story. As you start to read, I hope you experience this journey as a member of the family and not just from the outside looking in. However, most importantly, I pray you open your heart as you open your book and prepare for new life lessons in LEARNING.
