Last Chance Harvey

This was a great movie!!!! I felt I knew this man and what he was feeling about attending his daughter's wedding after being divorced from his wife. He was put down in her eyes and none of his accomplishments had any value in his ex-wife's world. He meets a woman by chance, they discover their lives are better for the encounter. There is a deep awareness of the other person and a friendship develops between them. I could experience the love growing between them throughout the movie and was rooting them on to discover each other. I thoroughly enjoyed these characters and if gave me hope that it is never too late for romance at any age.

This movie is great, it is a beautiful story of a man who is down on his luck in just about every area of his life. He tries to connect with his grown daughter at her wedding and things just don't work out as planned. When he is as low as he can go he meets a very special person, the movie is the delightful story of the courtship and love. The movie is realistic and makes you feel as if you can connect with the actors, real life challenges and issues. Highly recommend this movie, it is a good one, you will enjoy it.

I Couldn't Look Away!

sarah1645 from Denver, CO, Jun 19, 2009

I first saw this movie on its opening night in a packed house at the Denver Starz Film Festival. I had no idea what it was about, but the star quality of Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson assured me that I would not be disappointed. And I wasn't. Hoffman's Harvey is painful to watch at times, as he makes one blunder after another, distancing him further from his estranged daughter at her wedding. But he's charming too, especially when he finally has a conversation with Thompson's character in an airport bar. Its hard to take your eyes off the unlikely chemistry between these two fine actors.

I enjoyed this realistic story of two people meeting and changing each others lives and has a happy ending too boot! They are real people who face real everyday challenges of family relationships and in the midst of it all, accidently find each other and change their lives together.
