Based on a hit manga by Keiichi Sigsawa, the philosophical anime series KINO`S JOURNEY employs the time-honored motif of the road trip as a vehicle for self-discovery and universal truth. Deeply meditative and cooler than zero, the series follows the existential adventures of a black-clad hipster, Kino, and his talking motorcycle, Hermes, as they travel the world and learn much about themselves in the process. Imaginative, thought-provoking, and sometimes disturbing, Kino`s journey is documented in an episodic style with an emphasis on atmosphere rather than action or plot. This collection presents the series in its entirety for a total of 13 episodes.

Customer Reviews
I heard good things about the series and because the director and screenplay writer are highly regarded, I knew the story would not disappoint. It was very well written and the simplicity of the graphics matched the story as well.

I have to say that I was rather disappointed with this set. Unlike a number of other DVD releases by ADV films, this set is bare bones: -There are barely any special features (in fact, the only ones related to the show are the text free opening and closing) -2 language settings (English with minimal titles and Japanese with full subtitles) -The video quality is best described as "grainy" on HD displays. To its credit, the sound is in Dolby 5.1 (but what isn't these days?), and the English voice acting is above average. At this point, that's all I can really compliment, and I'm really trying hard at it. In short, if you want to show the series to your friends, this is definitely a way to do it. If you are expecting anything more than the actual show from this set, you're outta luck.
