Great way to learn history! Entertaining. Could find the book locally but unable to find the DVD. Received the DVD within 3 days during the holiday season.

I purchased this DVD for my husband, he loves it and we also purchased the book for a gift for someone else. The book is just as wonderful as the DVD. Makes a great gift set.

If you are a history buff, this is a good one to add to your collection.

This is another magnificent film from the Ken Burns team. They found a compelling approach to what could have been an "old story." I have learned details about events that I either knew nothing or very little about. This was my requested gift for Christmas and I am grateful to my husband for buying it for me.

I would hope that this documentary would serve as a teaching tool for generations to come. My father was a Marine Lieutenant in World War II. He would share bits of information about his experiences there but, unfortunately, he has passed; and I wished I had learned much more. Sharing history with our children, grandchildren and subsequent generations is imperative!

both purchased for my sons . they haven't a chance to watch yet but i know they will like the movie. the only problem being- the box came opened and crushed but the dvd's seemed to be okay.

This DVD series should be a "must-watch" for everyone, in order to remind ourselves that war will always have a human toll that cannot be tallied. It also serves as a poignant reminder to stand up for what you believe in, despite the costs, because anything with true value is worth fighting for.

WE WATCHED THE SERIES ON PBS FOR SEVERAL NIGHTS AND MY HUSBAND WANTED IT TO WATCH AGAIN. FOUND IT ON YOUR SITE AND THE REST IS HISTORY. HE WATCHED ALMOST ALL OF IT NEW YEARS DAY AND COMMENTED SEVERAL TIMES THAT THERE WERE PARTS THAT HE MISSED THE FIRST TIME. THIS IS REAL AND DONE SO WELL. YOU WILL BE HOOKED, ON IT'S HISTORY VALUE AND ON THE FACT THAT YOU NEVER MISS AN EPISODE. EVERYONE YOUNG AND OLD SHOULD SEE THIS ; FOR WHAT THESE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WENT THROUGH TO HELP THE USA AND THE WORLD. TODAY WE FACE THESE SAME TIMES AND NEED TO KNOW THAT THE WORLD IS WORTH SAVING FROM SUCH TREATMENT. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THE WORLD.

Excellent and well done. Actual footage is tremendous! This purchased as a Christmas Gift and well worth the price. Very factual and first person accounts are wonderful to listen to. This should be required viewing in all high schools etc. Shows what our country did to get behind the war effort and what was sacrificed! This is non political and a tremendous lesson in history of World War II.

Haven't been able to sit through the entire 15 hours yet. But I can tell you that just the first 2.5 hrs provide enough amazing details and interesting facts that I guarantee you never knew about WW2.

This is the best documentary I have ever watched. I bought this for my husband, after we saw it on PBS. Our children need to see more of these movies, to learn what their grandparents went thru for them and this country. They don't even teach our history in school anymore. Every American needs to watch this.

My husband and I watched this series when it aired on PBS - we were glued to our T.V. It is so spectacular! I bought this copy for my Father's birthday and he LOVED it too! I would highly recommend this series to anyone - young and old - it is a must see!
