Perhaps more so than other nations, Israel's musical heritage was shaped by military music. As the military increasingly played a key factor in the lives of average Israeli citizens, the music associated with it became as common in the collective consciousness as old folk songs. Assigned to travel the country to lift the spirits of the troops and remind them of the country's larger mission, military bands became morale boosters and popular icons. Many of this music and the performers behind them were the basis of modern Israeli rock music. This Karaoke program features 10 popular songs and provides lyrics for easy, sing-a-long action. The music is accompanied by footage of the Israeli Defense Forces.
