In THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY (1954), a jittery copilot commands a commercial jetliner suffering from engine trouble on a transpacific flight. In ISLAND IN THE SKY (1953), a WWII army pilot crash lands his transport plane in the icy tundras of the Canadian Arctic.
